Manatee’s newest auto repair business delivers – literally

LAKEWOOD RANCH -- It's rare to find a doctor who will make a house call -- but an auto mechanic? Unless you're related you could forget about it, until now.

Auto Go Mobile Service opened for business last month and much like a doctor with his little black bag, the car repair service will come to you with their tools to diagnose what ails your car. Or if it just needs a little routine maintenance, such as an oil change, they'll meet you wherever you are.

Oil changes, automobile repairs, brake repairs and vehicle maintenance are now available at the customer's convenience. Auto Go Mobile Service, at 11509 Palmbrush Trail, offers licensed car mechanics who go to customers' homes or offices.

"Our mission is to help customers for their convenience by bringing the repair shop to them," said owner Bob Litwiler.

Litwiler means that literally. His entire repair shop fits in a truck and includes a lift for cars, tools, filters, spark plugs, oil, wrenches and diagnostic tools -- almost anything you think someone might need to fix your car or truck.

Owners Litwiler, Daryl Williams and Chad Willard have been in the automobile industry for more than 25 years. All of their Auto Go technicians are ASE-certified.

Experience and convenience combine for great service, but it doesn't necessarily come cheap.

An average cost for an oil change with Auto Go is $39.95 with a $25 convenience fee.

While not everyone wants to pay a convenience fee for an oil change, in the three weeks Auto Go Mobile Service has been in operation, the

business has serviced 25 clients.

"We have not had any complaints because people think it's unbelievable what we do," Litwiler said.

Clients not only get exceptional service, but they save on gas as well because Auto Go takes the shop to them.

"People love the con-cept because our new business brings the repair shop to you," said Williams, a former team member for Red Hoagland GMC and Chevrolet.

It was customers who inspired the mobile concept, the owners said. They didn'thave the time to wait inthe shop for a repair or to bring in a vehicle for an oil change.

Auto Go owners discussed the idea for eight months before investing in their mobile repair shop and in doing so they considered customers' comments and concerns.

"We felt that there wassuch a need to follow through with this idea becauseeveryone has busy schedules so it is more realistic for us to work with their schedules rather than them working with ours," Williams said.

Auto Go technicians build close relationships with their customers because they allow customers to see the services they offer. They want to ensure customers they are performing only what is needed for their cars.

"Since we go to our customers and allow them to see everything we do, they can trust our opinions and trust that our services are done to only benefit them," Williams said.

While Auto Go will come to your home, the company does offer set hours: 6 a.m to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
